Other Projects
Apart from the orphanage in Singaraja we started a food program with 20 children for people in the slum area. The children join the staff when they go to the market and buy rice, noodles, eggs, dried fish, medication and hygiene products. They bring the parcels to the slum area in Singaraja. They handover the food parcels and make inquiries about health and needs.
We also started a monthly medical safari in the North of Bali by renting a medical team from the local municipal health services, and visit villages in the area. This way we get more knowledge of the medical problems in the Singaraja area. On average 100 to 150 people use our service. They consist of mainly senior citizens and mothers with small children.
After the purchase of the orphan home in 2003 the number of homeless children and activities increases. A home for elderly widows is founded; help has been given after the tsunami in Atjeh, where also in Medan an orphanage has been started and a medical clinic has been financed. Activities on Bali are, next to the renovation project of the orphan home, in 2005 extended with a ‘micro-business for widows’-project and in 2006 with a second orphanage in Nusa Dua.
