Our kids just had their holidays and are back in school already. Many special activities during their holidays and a huge task to get them in the right schools, pay all school fees and buy all school stuff.

It’s a 3 hour drive from the touristy South (airport) to our orphanage in the beautiful North of Bali, so we are always pleased when we get visitors. When they ask us what they can do for our kids, we always advise them to come with us to the local markets to buy a box of apples or if they have more to spare, they can bless us with a bag of rice as our kids eat more than 100 kilo a week! Now, the end of July, we have been blessed with a pick-up full; our visitors fully enjoyed their visit to the markets!

Some of our students will graduate this October, so we have taken in several new kids (3 boys and 1 girl). Once settled, we’ll introduce them in our next news letter.

Ayu Astiti (middle) has the highest ‘ranking’ (best school marks) from the SMA – senior high school. Also Sudami (with guitar) is doing very well, with a 4th ranking (SMP – junior high). Smart, diligent girls!

NEW SPONSORS NEEDED FOR LION KING BALI

Lion King lost several important Dutch sponsors in 2010 & 2011, because of a change in their work, divorce or passing away. Also because of the present problems in several European countries and the USA, the Euro & US dollar have dropped for a long time already with more than 20%, which has a huge impact on our orphanage budget. On top of that, prices (especially food) went up drastically in Indonesia since 2010 (inflation & bad harvests). Please tell your friends, colleagues, family, (sport) clubs and neighbors about our Lion King Project, so we might get our healthy support base back and even better; there will be room to grow again !
