The end of February we had a goodbye party with a wedding cake, because Mega & Raza left for Medan to get married. This way our Lion King kids could also get ‘a taste’ of it. Raza comes from Medan.

LION KING PROJECT - May / June 2010 - 13/07/2010

REDI

Redi was taken in last year with many spots on her body. She simply started to enjoy the variety of food in the orphanage, but her body could not cope with it and her skin problem became even worse. Her arms, legs and feet lost all color, like all pigment disappeared. We put Redi on a strict diet with only fresh food (veggies & fruit), no eggs, meat, candy, ice cream … Within weeks her skin turned completely normal again and now she can have an ice cream once in a while ;-D

LION KING PROJECT - January / April 2010 - 19/04/2010

SMART STUDENTS

Maheni (left), the younger sister of Winta, Listi (middle) & Segari, the younger sister of Mulianing, will finish SMA (high school) and are very eager, moreover capable to go to uni. Each needs a sponsor, so they can move into the girl’s student home.

PROJECT LION KING - Orphanage Medan - 26/09/2009

OUR MEDAN ORPHANAGE

After the Aceh Tsunami, we went to the Medan refugee camps and immediately started an orphanage for the homeless Aceh / Nias kids. It’s running now for already 4 ½ years with 30 children, lead by our staff Ebit & Minar whom fell in love during their care, got married & are expecting their 2nd child! Ebit studied child psychology and Minar is a nurse.

PROJECT LION KING - August / September 2009 - 08/09/2009

Back on Bali

Charles (our staff) and Falintin (student) came to collect us from the airport. We went straight to Ryochi to fill our tummies with delicious and extremely affordable Japanese food. It is becoming a small tradition to have our students try some foreign cuisine.

This time Falintin had sushi & sashimi with us which is always lots of fun to witness. Of course we also ordered her a Bento box, which had her enjoying Japanese food much more in the end than the raw fish.

PROJECT LION KING - March / April 2009 - 23/04/2009

Medan orphanage

Medan staff Ebit & Minar take care of 30 kids, our Nias kids are doing great. Simultaneously with us in Bali, we celebrated Frank’s 45th birthday the 10th of March.

PROJECT LION KING - January / February 2009 - 12/02/2009

Lion King has 3 new highfliers waiting to start their study; 3 of our girls just enrolled ‘for now’ at the university. From left to right: Falintin (Indonesian or tourism management study) is kind & sincere, Nurini (wants economics or informatics) is quiet & modest, works since last year, because we do not have a sponsor for her yet and last Luh Eka (wants mathematic or biology).

LION KING WISHES YOU A FRUITFUL 2009 - 31/12/2008

A NEW (CHRISTMAS) CHILD

Gede (with yellow T-shirt) was brought to us on Christmas day by his stepmother. Gede’s mum past away, his dad remarried and recently committed suicide. Like most of our kids who just arrive, Gede’s behavior & thinking are far behind; unstable & weird …

The children from last October feel at home already and they are beginning to blossom! This Christmas all our kids were allowed to invite 5 friends, about 150 teenagers showed up. It was a joyful feast with lots of laughter.
